CodeWire detects when a newer version of Coder is available for your Coder instance. When an upgrade is available, you’ll see an Upgrade action on the resource detail page.

How to upgrade

  1. Go to your resource detail page
  2. In the quick actions sidebar, click Upgrade to latest Coder version
  3. The resource re-provisions with the new Coder version

What happens during an upgrade

  • Your resource enters the Provisioning state temporarily
  • The Coder application is updated to the new version
  • Existing workspaces and data are preserved
  • The process typically takes 2-5 minutes
Your resource domain and all workspace data remain intact during the upgrade. Only the Coder application is updated.

When upgrades are available

CodeWire tracks the latest stable Coder release. When your Coder instance is running an older version, the upgrade action appears in the sidebar. You can see your current Coder version on the Instance Details card.
Only organization owners can trigger upgrades.
